Libertyville Plans $1.1M Riverside Park Makeover With New Playground, Paths

Proposed upgrades include separate playgrounds, fitness stations, fishing areas, a pollinator garden and improved ball fields.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Libertyville plans to spend an estimated $1.1 million upgrading Riverside Park with a new playground, walking paths and other improvements.

The project calls for separate playground areas for children ages 2 to 5 and 5 to 12 years old, fitness stations, a dedicated fishing area, a pollinator garden and upgraded ball fields, the Daily Herald is reporting. The village also plans to connect Riverside Park with Red Top Park to the south, with the improvements guided by feedback from nearly 700 residents.

The village is seeking a state grant that could cover up to half the project cost, though improvements are planned regardless of whether the grant is awarded, according to the Daily Herald.
