LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Libertyville is moving forward with a $113,700 purchase of LED streetlight fixtures as the village works to reduce energy and maintenance costs.

The Village Board is considering a resolution to waive formal bidding requirements and accept a proposal from Graybar of Itasca for 260 LED-compatible streetlight fixtures at a cost not to exceed $113,700.60. The project is included in the village's fiscal 2026-27 budget, which includes $225,000 for replacing streetlights and related materials, including poles, fixtures and installation, according to village documents.

Village officials previously determined that converting the existing sodium-vapor bulbs to LED bulbs could reduce energy and maintenance costs. The new fixtures will be compatible with the village's existing Town & Country streetlight lanterns, according to village documents.

Staff requested quotes from vendors because only a limited number of local suppliers can provide LED bulbs compatible with the existing lanterns, according to village documents. Graybar submitted the lowest proposal at $113,700.60, compared with $121,160 from KSA Lighting & Controls, while two other vendors no longer carry the required General Electric products.

Because the village did not formally advertise requests for proposals, the board must waive the formal bidding requirements in its Purchasing Manual before accepting Graybar's proposal.
