Authorities Work To ID Female Remains Found In Libertyville

Additional remains were found nearby in a wooded area Saturday morning.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Authorities are working to identify a female whose skeletal remains were found in Libertyville over the weekend.

Police say the remains were found in the 1800 block of Hollister Drive at about 8:15 a.m. on Saturday. Additional remains were found nearby in a wooded area, according to a news release from the Libertyville Police Department.

On Monday, the Lake County Coroner's Office confirmed that it appears the remains belonged to a single person.

The coroner's office and Libertyville Police Department are continuing to work to identify the female, according to the coroner's office. An autopsy was performed Monday, and authorities are awaiting toxicology results.

Police say the incident appears to be isolated and there is no threat to the community.

Hollister Drive is a commercial street, occupied by medical buildings and a car dealership, surrounded by woods and abutting the Des Plaines River, according to Google Maps. The discovery remains under investigation by Libertyville police and the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
