Tips to Getting a Good Hair Cut
How to NOT get a bad hair cut! My name is Wendy Ward I'm a stylist at Ariazi Salon here in Libertyville and I'm offering a few tips on how to ensure you get the hair cut you want.

We have all been there, from the so bad you actually cried to the "just okay" hair cut. Regardless of the severity, you just paid at least $40-$60 for something you don't love! Hair dressers charge that kind of money because they're mind reading magicians... Right? Wrong. As a stylist I know that if you go to a salon not a great clips kind of place you will most likely find a beautician who has been trained beyond cosmetology school who is very capable of giving you a fantastic hair cut. But we are only human and there are some factors that can drastically change your results. I'm going to tell you how to avoid these little mishaps..
#1 Don't be afraid to walk into a salon and ask questions maybe even get a tour. Is it clean? Are they friendly? Professional? Is this the kind of place you would enjoy spending at least 45 minutes of your time every so often?
#2 Don't be impulsive. Take your time finding your stylist perhaps consider just getting a blow dry the first time this way you can get a feel for the salon and the cutter. Pay attention. Does he or she seem rushed or are they relaxed and willing to spend time with you? Are they talking about themselves or are they asking you questions about your hair and trying to get to know YOU? Do you feel comfortable with this person? They should have a pleasing personality and a willingness to comfort you- it's scary getting a cut from someone new! A good consultation should last at least 10 minutes; they should be asking a lot of questions to determine exactly what you're looking for.

#3 Don't squeeze! Don't accept an appointment time if the receptionist tells you she can "squeeze" you in. You don't want to be squeezed. You want the full 45 minutes; maybe even an hour if you have long or thicker hair.
#4 Bring pictures of styles you like and ones that may be similar but you don't like for whatever reason. Be mindful of your hair type your hair may not do what the model's hair in the picture does but a good stylist can help you find a style that accentuates your hair type.

#5 Be brave! Last but not least, speak up. If you see something happening that makes you uneasy just ask. Stop them and ask why they are doing that. Don't sit there terrified in silence for the sake of being nice it's your hair!
