Symphony847 opens its 2025–2026 Season with a powerful and uplifting program featuring pianist Amy Wurtz performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, “Emperor.” A cornerstone of the piano repertoire, the Emperor Concerto is known for its grandeur, lyricism, and emotional depth — a work that challenges the soloist to balance heroism with poetry.
The evening begins with Michael Torke’s Ash — a vibrant piece pulsing with rhythmic energy — and continues with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4, a brilliant and joyful symphony often described as one of his hidden gems.
Program:
- Michael Torke — Ash
