On Saturday, August 8, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., the community is invited to a free public panel bringing together immigration experts, local advocates, and immigrants’ stories to shed light on the challenges facing immigrant families in our area — and to offer concrete ways neighbors can help.
The event will feature representatives from:
- Brushwood Center
- Mano a Mano
- Lake County Rapid Response Team
- Center for Immigrant Progress
- Staff and volunteers from the United Methodist Church of Libertyville
Panelists will share firsthand accounts and professional insight into the everyday realities of immigrant life in Lake County, address common misconceptions, and outline practical, actionable steps attendees can take to support immigrant neighbors — whether through volunteering, advocacy, or direct assistance.
Information and resources will be available from:
- Brushwood Center
- IL Law and Justice Center
- Center for Immigrant Progress
- Lake County Community Foundation
- Lake County Suicide Prevention Task Force
- Northern Illinois Conference Immigration Team
