5th Annual Lakeside Cemetery Tour

Event Details

Lakeside Cemetery, 600 Lake St, Libertyville, IL, 60048

The Libertyville Historical Society and the Lakeside Cemetery Association invite you to the 5th Annual Lakeside Cemetery Walk on Saturday, September 12.

This year's tour features the stories of five military men from Libertyville who lost their lives while serving in WWII - Lowell Acox, Elmer Egloff, Glen Dale Kranz, Paul Ray, Jr., and William Whitney II. The profiles are based on research conducted by Libertyville Historical Society life member Joe Nemmers, Jr. for his book 29 Knocks on the Door: One Small Town's Costly Sacrifice in World War II.

Tours depart at 2:00pm, 2:20pm, 2:40pm, and 3:00pm. The tour will last 45-60 minutes and requires walking distances, walking over uneven ground, and long periods of standing.

A limited number of mobility-assisted tickets will be available per time slot. Mobility-assisted tickets reserve a seat on a golf cart which will drive between tour stops. Walking will still be required to access some of the gravesites.

Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for Society members. Payment will be collected at the event. Cash, check, Apple Pay or PayPal is accepted.

Reserve your ticket at libertyvillehistory.org or call 224.513.7426.
