The loss of a friend or loved one can make the holidays an especially painful and overwhelming time. The United Methodist Church of Libertyville (UMCL) invites the community to “Surviving the Holidays: Finding Hope and Healing During a Difficult Season” on Sunday, November 15, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at 429 Brainerd Avenue, Libertyville. The gathering is designed to help people navigate the unique challenges of the season after loss.
The event will offer practical guidance and a supportive setting for anyone feeling the weight of grief. Together, attendees will talk about:
- How to handle the many emotions that may surface during the holidays
- What to do about traditions and other changes that feel difficult
- Helpful tips for managing social gatherings and family events
- Ways to find hope and healing while looking toward the future
“If you’re feeling the weight of grief this season, you don’t have to face it alone,” said Erin Mayes, GriefShare Leader at UMCL. “Whether your loss is recent or from years past, this is a space to share, reflect, and find comfort in the company of others who understand.”
All are welcome to attend. To register, visit https://umcl.org/surviving-the-holidays-2/.
