CCU Hosts Free Seminar: "Your Credit Score"

Members and public invited to informative, no-cost credit score seminar

Libertyville, IL, April 21, 2015: In today’s world, maintaining an excellent credit score is an integral part of managing individual finances. For example, even though interest rates have been at historic lows for several years, some people haven’t been able to qualify for the best possible rates because their credit score was simply too low. With that in mind, Consumers Credit Union (CCU, $660 million, Waukegan, IL) is hosting “Your Credit Score,” a no-cost seminar that provides insight into building a better credit score. The workshop is open to the public and credit Union Members alike on Thursday, May 7th, at the Holiday Inn in Gurnee, IL.

“Establishing and maintaining a strong credit rating can be both confusing and challenging,” noted Sean M. Rathjen, CCU President. “Our seminar is designed to arm those in attendance with information that will help them better manage their credit, including some common sense steps anyone can take to help improve their score. The workshop will also provide a better understanding of the various types of scoring models in use today, including FICO and Vantage, along with non-traditional models and bankruptcy risk scores.”

“Consumers need to know how credit scores are used so they can reach their goals quicker at the lowest possible cost,” continued Rathjen. “For example, many people don’t realize their credit score can impact the cost of auto, homeowners and renters insurance, the rate they may pay on future loans, whether or not they qualify for a loan or apartment lease – even their ability to find employment. Our workshop provides useful information that can benefit everyone attending, even those with an extensive credit profile.”
