Funeral Set For College Student From Libertyville Found Dead

Matthew Listman, 21, was a senior at Illinois State University.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A 21-year-old Libertyville man who was reported missing last week was found dead in Normal.

The man, who has been identified as Matthew Listman, was a senior at Illinois State University at the time of his death, according to his obituary. The Libertyville High School graduate played football and lacrosse while in high school.

He was first reported missing on Thursday and his body was found near a creek area in the 900 block of North Main Street in Normal at about 10 p.m. on Friday. Preliminary results from an autopsy show Listman died as a result of drowning and foul play is not suspected, according to a news release from the Normal Police Department.

Police used cell phone data, videos from local businesses and spoke with family and friends of Listman after he was reported missing and as they attempted to locate him. An investigation into his death is ongoing and anyone with information regarding his death is asked to call the Normal Police Department at 309-454-9593 or e-mail cso@npd.org.

Meanwhile, a visitation for Listman is scheduled for 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville. A funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 5:30 p.m.
