Cook Memorial District Libraries Opening Tuesday
The Aspen Drive and Cook Park libraries will be reopening with special guidelines in place.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL — The Cook Memorial Public Library District plans to reopen the doors of its Libertyville and Vernon Hills locations on Tuesday, July 7, according to library officials. Both the Cook Park and Aspen Drive libraries will have modified hours: from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Here is what those stopping out to the library should expect:
- Those entering the library and over the age of 2 years old should have on properly worn face covering
- New self-checkout units, which are set 6 feet apart from each other
- Limited capacity
- Clear plastic shields at public desks
- High-traffic areas will be cleaned and disinfected regularly
- At Cook Park Library, all patrons will enter and exit through the parking lot (South entrance) door. The Cook Street (North entrance) door will be closed.
Those visiting the library can return materials to exterior book drop slots, bring their library card to use the self checkouts and to use a computer, keep visits short to allow access by other patrons, maintain a 6-foot distance from other staff or patrons and wash hands and use hand sanitizer. Children under the age of 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Those visiting the libraries will be able to browse collections or use the drive-up window at the Cook Park Library. Outreach services are available for no-contact hold pickups or deliveries and the printers, copiers and faxing and scanning machines will be available for use with limited assistance, according to the library website.
And there will be a limited number of computers with a one-hour maximum at both libraries and those wishing to reserve a computer can call 847-362-2330 extension 1302 for Cook Park or extension 1402 for Aspen Drive. Reservations can be made up to one day in advance.
