Coroner IDS Man, 19, Found Dead At Great Lakes Naval Station

A 19-year-old man who was found dead earlier this month in a barracks at Naval Station Great Lakes has been identified as Joshua Jones.

GREAT LAKES, IL — A 19-year-old man who was found dead earlier this month in a barracks at Naval Station Great Lakes has been identified as Joshua Jones, who was currently stationed at the naval station authorities said.

Jones was found unresponsive at the naval station at about 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 8, according to the Lake County Coroner's Office. The Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fire & Emergency Services and Great Lakes Police Department responded to the call.

Despite life-saving efforts, the Jones, who is originally from Florida, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.

An autopsy was conducted at the Lake County Coroner’s Office, and results are pending expanded toxicology testing, authorities said.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is leading the investigation in accordance with base protocol, authorities said.
