Coroner IDs Woman Killed After Being Hit By Vehicle
The 37-year-old Mundelein woman was crossing Butterfield Road when she was hit by a vehicle Tuesday night.
MUNDELEIN, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified a 37-year-old Mundelein woman who was killed in a hit and run Tuesday night as Liliia Leshchenko.
At about 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, Leshchenko was crossing Butterfield Road near Canterbury Lane with a 39-year-old man when they were both hit by a vehicle, which was headed south on Butterfield Road at the time, according to a news release from the Mundelein Police Department.
Both Leshchenko and the man were taken to Condell Medical Center where the woman later died, according to authorities. Preliminary results from an autopsy show Leshchenko died from blunt force injuries as a result of the crash, according to the coroner's office.

The man sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
The vehicle's driver, a 67-year-old man, was not injured. Police say there is no indication the man was impaired or under the influence of alcohol or drugs but authorities are awaiting toxicology test results.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
