Death Investigation Underway After Man Found Shot Dead in His Garage

Authorities are investigating the death of a 46-year-old Winthrop Harbor man found with a gunshot wound in his garage Friday night.

Jeffrey S. Lalond, of the 3600 block of Creekside Court in Winthrop Harbor, was taken to Vista East Hospital after authorities were called to his home for a report of “shots fired,” according to a Lake County Major Crime Task Force press release. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Winthrop Harbor Police Department requested the assistance of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force in investigating the death. Winthrop Harbor and Major Crime investigators are following-up on investigative leads and collecting evidence at the scene.

A preliminary investigation shows tLalond was shot in the garage of his residence, authorities said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday morning.
