Delays Expected As Traffic Signal Improvements Get Underway

The improvements will be made on U.S. 45 and Route 120 in Grayslake, Libertyville and Hainesville.

LAKE COUNTY, IL – Daytime lane closures will take place on Illinois 120 between Illinois 134 and U.S. 45 and on U.S. 45 between Illinois 120 and Winchester Road, in Grayslake, Hainesville and Libertyville, beginning on Sept. 27, according to an Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) news release. The closures are necessary for a traffic signal modernization project along Illinois 120 and U.S. 45.

In order to complete the work, intermittent, daytime lane closures will take place on Illinois 120 from Illinois 134 to U.S. 45 and on U.S. 45 from Illinois 120 and Winchester Road. Traffic will be reduced to one lane with flaggers, when necessary, according to a news release.

The scope of the project includes traffic signal modernization and channelization along Illinois 120 and U.S. 45. The project is expected to be completed in Summer 2018.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
