Demolition Underway on Libertyville's Brainerd Building

Demolition got underway Monday on Libertyville’s Brainerd Building.

The building has been a part of the community for 97 years and was the original home of the Libertyville High School Wildcats, according to the Daily Herald.

Demolition got underway Monday with crews beginning interior work on the two-story brick structure and the adjacent Jackson Gym, which is located on Route 176 at Brainerd Avenue, the newspaper reports.

The Libertyville-Vernon Hills Area High School District 128 plans to use the land for a sports field, a parking lot and will also create a memorial for the former school, according to the article.
