District 128 Ranked Safest IL School District: Niche

Niche.com has released its top schools rankings and has determined District 128 is the second best school district in the state.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Niche released its 2020 Best Schools list on Monday after looking at more than 94,000 public schools, 4,100 private schools and nearly 11,000 school districts across the country. Two Illinois schools even ranked among the top five in the nation.

Community High School District 128 fared well in the rankings and was picked as the second best school district in the state, according to Niche.

  • Best School Districts in Illinois: No. 2 of 408
  • Best School Districts for Athletes in Illinois: No. 2 of 408
  • Safest School Districts in Illinois: No. 1 of 643

The district earned an overall grade of A+, which broke down as follows:

  • Teachers: A+
  • Clubs and activities: A+
  • Diversity: B-
  • College prep: A+
  • Health and safety: A+
  • Administration: A+
  • Food: A+
  • Sports: A+
  • Resources and facilities: A+

Niche.com had the following praise to give for District 128: "Community High School District No. 128 is a top rated, public school district located in Vernon Hills, IL. It has 3,347 students in grades 9-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 14 to 1. According to state test scores, 73% of students are at least proficient in math and 74% in reading."

Several Lake County school districts topped Niche's list as the best school districts in the state with Glenbrook High School District 225 coming in at No. 1, New Trier Township High School District 203 coming in at No. 3 and Township High School District 113 coming in at No. 4.
