District 128 School Board Member, District Secretary Indicted on Perjury Charges
Ellen Mauer and Denise Zwit are charged with perjury for their handling of election-related circulation papers.

Ellen Mauer, a longtime District 128 school board member, has been indicted on four counts of perjury before the Lake County Grand Jury after she reportedly did not circulate her own petitions when running for re-election, the Lake County News-Sun reports. In addition, Denise Zwit, the secretary for District 128 Superintendent Prentiss Lea, faces perjury charges for her alleged involvement with Mauer's petition papers.
Libertyville resident Tim Anderson told the Lake County News-Sun he contacted the state's attorney's office after becoming suspicious over the way Mauer's petition papers were handled during the April 4 election. He said he noticed similarities between the petitions filed by Mauer and another board candidate.
Ellen Mauer serves as the secretary for the District 128 Board of Education is also the principal at Spaulding School in Gurnee.
