Double Fatality Closes Lake County Highway

LAKE COUNTY, IL — Two people are dead after their car collided head-on with a semi in northeastern Lake County on Thursday morning, police told Patch.

The collision happened in the area of routes 173 and 41 near Zion. Following the initial collision, a third vehicle was struck as well, Christopher Covelli, deputy chief with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, told Patch.

Route 173 is closed from Route 41 to Kilbourne Avenue, police said at about 10 a.m. Thursday.

Police are expected to provide additional information on Thursday afternoon.
