LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A long-time Starbucks in downtown Libertyville will close this summer but village officials say the move will not cause a "coffee desert" in the downtown area and is not emblematic of any issues with retaining businesses in the area, the Libertyville Review reports. The Starbucks at 542 N. Milwaukee Avenue was opened as a cafe 25 years ago, Mayor Terry Weppler told the newspaper.

The cafes did not have drive-throughs, and the business in Libertyville doesn't have the capacity to add one, which, along with the shop's declining sales, was one of the main factors behind Starbucks' decision, according to the article. The downtown Libertyville Starbucks is set to close on June 30.

Meanwhile, Conscious Cup Coffee Roasters, which has Conscious Cup coffee shops in Crystal Lake and Cary and runs Cook Street Coffee in Barrington, plans to open its fourth spot in downtown Libertyville in the coming weeks. Coffee shop owners are prepping to open the Conscious Cup at 100 E. Station Street.
