Driver Parks Behind Squad Car During Traffic Stop, Arrested for DUI: Police
The incident occurred on Brainerd Avenue near Route 176.

A 20-year-old Libertyville man faces DUI charges after police said he stopped his car behind a police officer who was conducting a traffic stop.
Nicholas P. Carlino, of 601 Carter St., is charged with DUI, DUI over .08 and unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.
The incident occurred on Brainerd Avenue near Route 176 at 12:40 a.m. on July 19. When a police officer asked Carlino to pull around the squad car, which is in the process of conducting traffic stop at that location, the officer noticed a strong smell of alcohol, according to a police report.

Police told Carlino to pull is vehicle to the side of the road and the officer released the other driver from the scene. Police said Carlino failed a field sobriety test.
Carlino was released after posting his driver’s license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.

He is next expected in court on Aug. 14.
