Driver Services Facility to Close in Libertyville, Reopen in Lake Zurich

A larger space and a more "central location" is prompting state officials to close the Libertyville location and reopen in Lake Zurich.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL - Officials at Secretary of State Jesse White's office say they will soon shut down a driver's license facility on Peterson Road in Libertyville as they plan to move the operation to Lake Zurich by early 2017.

The Libertyville facility at 342 Peterson Road has been there for “decades” with around 1,100 people visiting the location each day, according to the Libertyville Review. But state officials say the location in Lake Zurich is “a little more centrally located” and will provide a larger space.

"We feel this is one of the fastest growing areas in the state and it gives us more space, both help us better serve the public," Dave Druker, a spokesman for White's office, told the Libertyville Review. "Geographically, Libertyville was closer to Waukegan, where we have a facility, than Lake Zurich is and our other facility is in Woodstock. Lake Zurich is a little more centrally located."
