DUI Charge For Driver Asleep With Parked Car On Curb: Police
The Libertyville Police Department made four drunken driving arrests in recent days.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL — The Libertyville Police Department made the following drunken driving arrests in recent days:
- Police arrested a 29-year-old Lindenhurst man after finding a vehicle parked in the 300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue with its side tires up on the curb. The man, who was later identified as Alejandro Reyes, of the 2100 block of Woodlane Drive in Lindenhurst, was asleep behind the wheel, police said. Officers were able to wake him and noticed multiple signs of impairment. He was asked to perform field sobriety tests and was then arrested and taken to the Libertyville Police Department. Reyes has been charged with driving under the influence and was released from custody after posting his driver’s license and signing a recognizance bond.
- Matthew Carlson, 34, was arrested for driving drunk at about 2:45 a.m. on Aug. 22, police said. Officers pulled over his vehicle after spotting it speeding while headed south on South Milwaukee Avenue near Coolidge Avenue. Carlson, of Leander, Texas, was asked to perform field sobriety tests and was then arrested and taken to the Libertyville Police Department where he was processed and cited. He's been charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage. Carlson was later released on a personal recognizance bond.
- Police pulled over a vehicle that was speeding while headed south on South Milwaukee Avenue near Sunnyside Place at about 5 a.m. on Aug. 25. Authorities say the driver, Kathryn Walus, 36, of the 500 block of Bramley Place in Lincolnshire, showed multiple signs of impairment. She was asked to perform field sobriety tests and was then arrested and transported to the Libertyville Police Department where she was processed and cited. She's been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding.
- Samuel Polzin, 31, of the 100 block of Sunset Drive in Libertyville, was arrested during the early morning hours of Aug. 28 after a officer spotted him asleep in the driver's seat of a car that was parked along North Milwaukee Avenue near Cook Avenue. Police woke him up and, while speaking to him, noticed multiple signs of impairment. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Libertyville Police Department where he was processed and cited for driving under the influence. He was released on a personal recognizance bond.
