Most emotionally healthy people operate under a just or equitable world theory; there is anger and/or discomfort if one feels they are getting screwed or getting significantly more than they think is fair.
It is ironic, is it not, that we tell ourselves and our kids that the world is not fair a million times, in order to more readily accept this reality - yet our efforts are almost exclusively applied to situations that we view ourselves as getting screwed. When is the last time you kindly reminded yourself, it's O.K., the world is not really fair in order to more readily accept the unfairness that falls in your favor?
