The Music Man (performed by Improv Playhouse Showstoppers)

Performances for the IP Showstoppers Production of Meredith Wilson’s classic “The Music Man” will be held at the Round Lake Beach Cultural and Civic Center Saturday, December 3 at 2:00 & 7:30 and Sunday, December 4th at 2:00pm.  This musical comedy was the winner of five Tony awards, including Best Musical, and ran for 1,375 performances. The cast album won the first Grammy award for "Best Original Cast Album." The plot concerns con-man Harold Hill (Zach Pearson-Libertyville), who poses as a boys' band organizer and sells band instruments and uniforms to naive townsfolk before skipping town with the cash. In River City, Iowa, prim librarian and piano teacher Marian Paroo (Sheridan Jansen-Round Lake Beach) sees through him, but when Hill helps her younger brother overcome his fear of social interactions due to his lisp, Marian begins to fall in love with Harold. Harold, in turn falling for Marian, risks being caught to win her. This fun, quirky, fast-paced musical theatre production will be tons of fun!  Tickets are $12 for adults and $8.00 for students, seniors and military.  For more information or to order advance tickets, ontact the IP Lake Street studios at 847-968-4529 or go to the website at www.improvplayhouse.com.
