Free Services for People with Disabilities
Services for those who want to be independent at home or anyone interested in finding a job

Lake County Center for Independent Living offers free services to people with disabilities. If you live in Lake or McHenry County and have a disability, any disability, then you qualify. Today we highlight two services.
Independent living skills training is offered to anyone who wants to learn how to complete daily tasks, despite challenges posed by a disability. One on one training is offered in and outside your home to learn skills such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, using public transportation, advocating resolving an issue, or anything you need to live independently with your disability.
Employment Readiness training is also available for those who seek employment. It’s a twelve week class that helps you explore career interests, search and apply for jobs, practice interview techniques, and understand employment rights for people with disabilities.
