Healthcare Symposium to Focus on Patient Advocacy-Karen Curtiss Speaks

Find out more about the movement to put patients first in U.S. healthcare at the “2nd Annual Patient Advocacy Symposium” sponsored by Greater Chicago Advocates. The day-long event will take place at 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., June 22, at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, 355 E. Erie St., Chicago.

Learn more about patient rights and safety, how to deal with difficult patients, preventing hospital hazards and the power of “story” as a mediation tool. Plus, get the latest healthcare reform updates. Speakers Joseph Monahan, JD, MSW, ACSW, a renowned Illinois mental health law attorney; Trisha Torrey, founder and director of The Alliance of Professional Health Advocates and AdvoConnection.com; Lynn Franklin, a consultant specializing in in persuasive communication; Rick Tivers, LCSW, CGP, known as a “therapist’s therapist”; Karen Curtiss, author of “Safe & Sound in the Hospital: Must-Have Checklists and Tools for Your Loved One’s Care”; and Stephanie Johnson, Advocacy Coordinator at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Center For Patient Partnerships.
