The orchestra at Highland Middle School received the designation at the Illinois Grade School Music Association State Festival.

Submission by Libertyville School District 70
The Highland Middle School seventh and eighth grade Highland Strings have been named a State Honor Orchestra after being invited and judges in the Illinois Grade School Music Association State Festival.
During a March IGSMA District Festival, “the group received the highest rating possible from each of three judges earning a 1+ rating,” said Highland orchestra director Carol Janossy. “The judges were extremely impressed with the quality and musicianship of the group and strongly encouraged them to attend the State Festival.”

Janossy said the student involved in Highland Strings are hard workers and play together beautifully.
The State Festival was held April 23 in Villa Park. Highland Strings performed in the afternoon and participated in a brief judges clinic. The group was then named one of four groups to receive the State Honor Orchestra honor.
