Hit-and-Run Driver Hospitalized After Police Find Him Unresponsive Following Crash
A Mundelein man faces drug charges and is accused of running a red light and causing the crash last month.

A 66-year-old Mundelein man accused of causing a hit-and-run crash in Libertyville last month was found unresponsive by police in his vehicle a short time later and was taken to the hospital.
Police were called to a two-vehicle crash at South Milwaukee Avenue and Aratius Parkway at about 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 25 for a report of a vehicle that ran a red light and collided with another vehicle, according to a Libertyville Police Department report.
Witnesses directed police to the location of the suspect, according to the police report. Police found David M. Mayzel, 66, at 1650 North Hollister Drive. He was unresponsive and paramedics were called to the scene. He was taken to the hospital.

Police searched Mayzel’s car and found drug paraphernalia and marijuana inside, according to the police report.
Mayzel was issued citations and and was released on a notice to appear at the Mundelein Branch Court on Nov. 25.
