Two people were arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents Wednesday morning in the parking lot of Thermoflex Corporation in Waukegan, according to the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR). <a href="https://www.lakemchenryscanner.com/2026/07/08/ice-agents-arrest-2-people-outside-of-manufacturing-plant-in-waukegan-organization-says/" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">The organization's Lake County Rapid Response Team confirmed</a> ICE activity at the manufacturing plant, located at 1514 South Lakeside Drive, and said agents detained two people at the site. The arrests occurred less than two months after federal agents made another immigration-related arrest <a href="https://www.lakemchenryscanner.com/2026/07/08/ice-agents-arrest-2-people-outside-of-manufacturing-plant-in-waukegan-organization-says/" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">at a nearby Uline warehouse on Lakeside Drive</a>, according to Lake &amp; McHenry County Scanner. ICIRR reminded residents<a href="https://www.lakemchenryscanner.com/2026/07/08/ice-agents-arrest-2-people-outside-of-manufacturing-plant-in-waukegan-organization-says/" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow"> who encounter federal agents that</a> they have the right to remain silent, speak with an attorney, refuse to sign documents and record police activity.

Ragdale, the nationally acclaimed artists’ residency program, located on the former Arts and Crafts country estate of architect Howard Van Doren Shaw, offers tours of the historic Ragdale House. Participants will learn about the Shaw family history and the celebrated artist in residence program. Visitors can experience the seven-acre site which includes three historic homes, several artist studios, gardens and vistas of the 50-acres Shaw Prairie. The Ragdale House and the Barn House, originally built in 1897, are both listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Tour donations help to support the mission of Ragdale.

Three respected members of the Illinois legal system join Rev. Lloyd Biddle in a panel discussion exploring “Faith &amp; The Law” as an element of the Service of Worship at Connection Church of Libertyville, Sunday, July 12 at 10 AM. 
The trio –- an attorney, a circuit judge and an appellate judge – are expected to bring many issues into focus, notably questions about the principle of the separation of church and state, and one’s personal faith may or may not influence decisions in court. 
Joining Pastor Biddle to comprise the panel are: 
<ul><li>Attorney Gerald L. Pauling, a partner at Seyfarth Shaw LLP in Chicago, who serves on the firm’s Executive Committee; </li></ul>
<ul><li>Judge John L. Joanem, Circuit Judge in the 19th Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois, serving Lake County; </li></ul>
<ul><li>Justice Carl Anthony Walker, who serves the First District of the Illinois Appellate Court and is a former judge in the Circuit Court of Cook County. </li></ul>
The four panelists are visiting in conjunction with Sigma Sunday, an outreach acknowledging Phi Beta Sigma, the historic fraternity empowering generations of me to believe in advocacy, community service and engagement.&nbsp; These attributes will be expounded on during Pastor Biddle’s message, “Greatness Reimagined,” based in the tenth chapter of the gospel of Mark, verses 35-45. 
Connection Church was founded 2016 on farmland at 28230 N. St. Mary's Road in Libertyville, Its Services of Worship are conducted in a renovated historic barn.&nbsp; Guests are invited to "Worship at the Barn." Rev. Lloyd Biddle, married to worship leader and author, Deborah Biddle,&nbsp; was installed as the second pastor of Connection Church in March 202. He succeeded Connection's founding pastor, now Pastor Emeritus, Lamarr Lark.&nbsp; Pastor Lark continues serving at Connection with Pastor Biddle and with <a href="https://www.jamesfordjrministries.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Rev. This special tribute event honors <a href="https://oldheartmovie.com" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">award winning Old Heart </a>author Peter Ferry who taught English at Lake Forest High School for 28 years. Following the 90 minute film,&nbsp; producer/screenwriter Roger Rapoport , codirector Kirk Wahamaki&nbsp; will join one of the film's costars for an audience discussion. Ferry’s students and faculty colleagues will attend this special event.&nbsp;&nbsp;Among his best known students are novelist Dave Eggers and actor Vince Vaughn.

Old Heart focuses on how people cross cultural boundaries to find common ground. In addition to honoring black soldiers who have fought for our country back to the American liberation, the film, is also a tribute to elder independence. Set in Detroit and the Netherlands, Old Heart was filmed in the midwest and the Dutch community of Veldhoven. Twenty-three midwestern actors are featured along with Amsterdam actress Eva Doueiri in her screen debut.&nbsp;
