IESA Track Sectionals
Local middle school track teams competed for the sectional championship at Grayslake North High School on Saturday.
For teams all over the Lake County area, the road to the state meet went through the Grayslake North sectional. Grayslake Middle School, coached by Elaina Armata, hosted the meet. FAT timing was used and results can be found by visiting ilpreptoptiming.com
On the girls side, Lindenhurst Milburn won the 7th grade division and Grayslake, guided by Armata, won the 8th grade division. In the combined girls division, Woodland Middle School, coached by Kenneth Almond, who coaches the prestigious Waukegan Invaders track club, took home the win. Many of the athletes from various schools in the sectional meet compete for the Invaders club.
On the boys side, Beach Park won the 7th grade division and Gurnee Green Oaks won the 8th grade division. Woodland Middle School, fresh off their conference championship last weekend, took home the combined division sectional championship. Will Brewster, the former AAU cross-country national champion, from Grayslake, coached the Woodland boys.

All qualifying athletes will compete for the state championship this weekend in Peoria. The meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday and results can be found on iesa.org
