Jogger Seriously Injured After Being Hit By Car

LAKE COUNTY, IL – A jogger was seriously injured after being hit by a car in Lake County Thursday morning, police said. The Lake County Sheriff's Office was called to the car versus pedestrian crash at Eagle Drive and West Arrowhead Drive in Ela Township at about 7:30 a.m. Deputies found the jogger, a 70-year-old Ela Township woman, who had been hit by the vehicle, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office press release.

A preliminary investigation shows a 2011 BMW sedan, driven by a 61 year-old Fox Lake woman, was traveling north on Eagle Drive when the vehicle struck the jogger. The woman had been jogging on the east side of the road, just north of Arrowhead Drive, at the time of the collision.

The jogger was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the BMW is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
