The Lake County Sheriff’s Office conducted tobacco compliance checks at retail establishments located throughout Beach Park, Deer Park, Lake Barrington, Wadsworth, Volo, Spring Grove, and unincorporated Lake County.
The compliance checks were conducted between, May 2, 2014 and May 10, 2014. Sheriff’s Investigators conducted 75 compliance checks during this round of checks, which resulted in the arrest of four clerks for selling tobacco products to a minor informant under the age of 18. The four clerks representing four different businesses in unincorporated Antioch, unincorporated Lake Villa, and Spring Grove were issued state citations and released on their own recognizance. Each of the illegal transactions was witnessed by an undercover Lake County Sheriff’s Office investigator.

Fox River Recreation located at 27884 Rt173 in Antioch; Seller: Aleksandr Mavlyanov, 49, of 1300 Block of Wentworth in Volo.
Browns Sip N’ Go located at 27970 Greenwood Dr in Spring Grove; Seller: Marilynn S. Johnson, 56, of 28000 Block of W. Stewart in Spring Grove.
Earlier in the year a total of two warnings and three citations were issued for tobacco violations.
