Lake County Forest Preserve Offers Virtual Fishing Event

The 90-minute event will include fish camp volunteers fishing at Independence Grove and will study the best techniques and fish behaviors.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL – Area residents interested in learning about or improving their fishing techniques are able to participate in a virtual presentation on Thursday that is being offered by the Lake County Forest Preserves.

The virtual education program, Fishing at Independence Grove, will be offered beginning at 6:30 p.m. and will include forest preserve fishing camp volunteers fish for bass, crappies, bluegills and northern pike. The program will explore the history of Independence Grove and what the area has to offer.

The program will also discuss fish adaptations and their behaviors as well as fish mounts and live fish that are caught by volunteers during the 90-minute Zoom presentation. The program will also provide an overview of the fishing techniques and tackle that are used by volunteers who are on-site.

The program is open to participants of all ages and registration is required. Registration will close at noon on Thursday. A Zoom link will be emailed to participants once they register. Registration can be completed by visiting this site.
