L'Arche Chicago Hosts 2nd Annual L'Arche Golf Classic and Awards Dinner
L'Arche Chicago invites you to the 2nd Annual L'Arche Golf Classic.

L’Arche Chicago invites you to the 2nd Annual L’Arche Golf Classic sponsored by Wintrust Community Banks at Ivanhoe Country Club Monday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to benefit L’Arche Chicago, a community of adults with and without developmental disabilities sharing their lives in family-style homes.
The 2015 L’Arche Golf Classic will be a day of golf, dinner, raffle prizes, fun and friendship at the exclusive Ivanhoe Country Club. L’Arche Chicago core members and assistants will be there to greet guests at this first-class venue for golf and entertainment. Echoing our attendees from last year’s inaugural event, in a world of cynicism and negativity L’Arche provides a strong spirit of hope, laughter and mutual support that is palpable amongst our “core members” and assistants who live in community as well as all of the attendees at the outing.
With the success of last year’s tournament, L’Arche was able to purchase a new home in suburban Forest Park. This year’s goal is to expand with an additional house in the same area to replace an older home on Austin Boulevard in Chicago and begin plans for growth in the Northern Suburbs.

In January of 1998, Franciscan Sister Maria Zeimen, joined Friends of L’Arche Chicago as the founding director. For two years, Maria and the ten board members worked tirelessly to lay the foundation for the new community of L’Arche Chicago. Working entirely off of individual donations, she opened the first house, welcomed the first assistants and core members, and brought her rich spirituality and dedication to the newly forming community.
Kevin McDonald of Mayer Brown has been a strong supporter of L’Arche Chicago since its inception. He brought his legal wisdom, counsel, and services to establish L’Arche Chicago’s financial and legal stability. Kevin has stood ready to offer L’Arche legal advice or help, donating his expertise to create the current 501(c)3 structure and support numerous ongoing legal matters in our inception and has provided ongoing support the L’Arche community.
“We couldn’t be more excited to honor these two generous and faithful servants who have established a firm legal and spiritual foundation for our community,” said Mic Altena, current Executive Director of L’Arche.
