Libertyville Cannabis Dispensary Proposal Withdrawn After Community Pushback
The request by Prairie Retail Holdings LLC was supposed to be on the agenda during a Tuesday village board meeting.
An application to open a cannabis dispensary at the former Baker’s Square at 1195 S. Milwaukee Ave. in Libertyville has been withdrawn.
Prairie Retail Holdings LLC had sought zoning changes to allow adult‑use cannabis dispensaries in commercial shopping center districts and a special use permit for the Greentree Plaza location, according to the Daily Herald. The proposal drew opposition from residents living to the west of the site, and Libertyville’s advisory plan commission unanimously voted it down.
With the request withdrawn, officials will no longer consider the dispensary proposal at Tuesday’s meeting, and the meeting, which previously was slated to happen at the Libertyville Civic Center, will be held at 7 p.m. at village hall, 118 W. Cook Ave.
