Libertyville Chiropractor Convicted In $600K Health Care Fraud Scheme
Federal prosecutors say Seung Han Lim billed Blue Cross Blue Shield for services that were never provided.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A suburban Chicago chiropractor has been convicted on federal health care fraud charges after a jury found he submitted more than $600,000 in false insurance claims for services that were never provided.
Seung Han Lim, 42, of Lincolnshire, owned and operated Movement Health and Rehab, also known as Motu Chiropractic and Motu Chiromassage, in Libertyville, according to federal prosecutors.
Prosecutors said that between 2016 and 2019, Lim submitted fraudulent claims to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois for chiropractic and massage services he knew were not actually performed. Some claims were allegedly billed for dates when neither Lim nor the patients were in Illinois.

Authorities also said Lim submitted claims for services he falsely indicated were provided by another chiropractor in his practice, including treatments allegedly given to Lim and his family members. When the insurer attempted to audit the claims, prosecutors said Lim created false patient records and submitted them to support the billing.
A federal jury convicted Lim on 13 counts of health care fraud following a week-long trial in U.S. District Court in Chicago. U.S. District Judge Franklin W. Valderrama has scheduled sentencing for Oct. 22, according to a news release.
