Libertyville Discusses Possible Pot Regulations
Village officials are deciding whether to prohibit or restrict where marijuana can be sold once it becomes legal for personal use on Jan. 1.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Village officials in Libertyville are trying to decide what restrictions to put in place, if any, regarding the sale of marijuana in town once it becomes legal to possess and for private use on Jan. 1. The village cannot ban residents from using marijuana but are planning to discuss whether to prohibit or regulate where marijuana can be sold in Libertyville. If the village does nothing, it could mean that marijuana could be sold at basic any retail outlet in Libertyville, the Daily Herald reports.
On Tuesday, the village board is expected to OK a measure to direct the advisory plan commission to hold a public hearing on whether to set up specific zoning changes in regards to marijuana sales, according to the article. That public hearing is expected to be held on Aug. 26 at Libertyville Civic Center.
