Libertyville Hit By Storm Outages; Village Offices Temporarily Closed

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — More than 1,400 ComEd crew members are working to restore power across northern Illinois after severe storms Monday brought wind gusts exceeding 80 mph and caused widespread outages, including in Libertyville, village officials said.

The village is urging residents, business owners and visitors to stay away from downed power lines and report them immediately to ComEd by calling 800-334-7661. Officials also warned residents not to drive or walk through flooded roads and to avoid entering active utility work zones while crews make repairs, according to village officials.

Residents can report outages or check restoration updates by texting OUT or STAT to 26633, calling 800-EDISON1 or visiting ComEd's outage center.

As of Wednesday afternoon, only a handful of outages affecting just over 80 customers were reported through ComEd's power outage map.

The storms also knocked out power at 325 N. Milwaukee Ave., forcing the temporary closure of the village's Community Development, Administrative Engineering and Public Works offices. Village officials said permit applications and other resources remain available online while the building is closed.
