Man Shot In Road Rage Incident: Libertyville Police

Police are looking for the driver who "became enraged" after being cut off in traffic and shot a Cicero man.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — The Libertyville Police Department is looking for a man accused of shooting another driver who "cut him off" near Libertyville on Tuesday evening, police said.

The incident occurred at about 6:15 p.m. in the area of Route 137 and O'Plaine Road when a 32-year-old Cicero man, who was headed west on Route 137, "may have cut off" another vehicle, according to a news release from the Libertyville Police Department. Police say the driver of the other vehicle "became enraged" after being cut off.

He then pulled his vehicle alongside the Cicero man's vehicle and pulled out a gun before shooting at the Cicero man, who was hit by the gunfire, police said.

The Cicero man drove to a nearby gas station at Route 137 and Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville, pulled over and called 911. Officers say the man had a gunshot wound to his leg and was treated at the scene before paramedics arrived and took him to the hospital.

His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

Sheriff’s detectives are currently investigating and reviewing video surveillance in the area, police said. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Lake County Sheriff’s Office detectives at 847-377-4000.
