Libertyville Receives Historic Preservation Designation
The village is among 84 cities in Illinois that's been recognized as a Certified Local Government.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Libertyville joined the ranks of 84 other cities in Illinois after recently receiving a Certified Local Government designation.
The village is now recognized by the Illinois State Historic Preservation Officeand the U.S. National Park Service for taking an active role in preserving the town's heritage, according to the Daily Herald. The new designation will allow the village to apply for state and federal preservation grants and participate in programs.
It also means property owners in the downtown historic district could apply to get a 20 percent federal tax credit against the cost of improvements, Mike Kollman, a local architect and original member of the village's Historic Preservation Commission, told the Daily Herald.
