Libertyville Rejects Proposed Car Wash Over Location Concerns
Village officials said the proposed car wash was too intensive for the site and did not fit the vision for the South Milwaukee Avenue.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Libertyville officials have rejected a proposal to demolish the vacant building at 211 S. Milwaukee Ave. and build a 194-foot-long car wash on the site.
The village board voted last week to deny the proposal after both the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals recommended against it in 6-0 votes, according to the Daily Herald. Officials said the proposed use was too intensive for the property and did not fit the village’s vision for the South Milwaukee Avenue corridor, a key gateway to downtown.
The proposal came from Papo’s 3 LLC, which operates eight car washes in the Chicago area, the Daily Herald is reporting.
