College News: Libertyville resident, Halima Ling, accepted to Dickinson College

Woodlands Academy graduate plans to attend a highly-selective, private liberal arts college in Pennsylvania!

Halima Ling, 17, a resident of Libertyville, graduated on June 2, 2017, from Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart in Lake Forest, Ill. She is the daughter of longtime Lake County residents Ernest and Kelli Ling. She plans to attend Dickinson College in Pennsylvania in order to study Psychology and Neuroscience.

Ling said she chose the highly-selective, private liberal arts college in Carlisle, Penn., because of its excellent academic offerings, abundant on-campus activities, and commitment to social justice, diversity, international and sustainability issues.

While a student at Woodlands Academy, Ling worked as a regular volunteer at Condell Medical Center, played women's varsity field hockey, and sang with various choral groups. Over the years, she received accolades including designation to the National Honor Society, the high school honor roll, and fine arts, achievement and Sacred Heart awards. Throughout the summers, Ling also took Humanities courses as a residential student at the University of California-San Diego.
