Libertyville Volkswagen Employees Package Meals For Children
The meals packed in July will be distributed to local children through schools and food pantries.

From Generosity Feeds: More than 13-million children in America struggle with hunger. That’s one in every six. Volkswagen Group of America (VWGoA) and Generosity Feeds are working together to ease this problem with a special Summer of Service. On July 10th, hundreds of Volkswagen employees and Generosity Feeds volunteers in six locations across the United States will create 35-thousand meals that will be distributed to American children who struggle with hunger. The groups will create meals simultaneously in Belmont, CA; Fort Worth, TX; Herndon, VA; Hillsboro, OR; Libertyville, IL and Maricopa, AZ. “We are thrilled to work with Generosity Feeds to pack meals for those in needs as part of our Volkswagen Group of America Get Involved Summer of Service,” said Machelle Williams, Sr. Director, Diversity & CSR, VWGoA. “Last year, our corporate headquarters in Herndon, Va. hosted a meal-packing event and this year, we are ecstatic to have six VWGoA locations simultaneously participating in volunteer activities at their own offices across the country.
It exemplifies our employees’ passion and dedication for giving back to those in need in our local community.” “We are so grateful to our friends at Volkswagen for partnering with us in this nationwide effort,” said Ron Klabunde, Founder and CEO of Generosity Feeds. “Employees from these six sites share an incredible amount of talent and heart. Together, they’ll make a significant, positive difference in every community they touch this summer.”
This is VWGoA’s second Summer of Service. Last year, VWGoA employees worked with Generosity Feeds to package about five-thousand meals at their Herndon, VA facility. This year’s task will be about six times larger. Also during 2017, about 450 VWGoA employees around the country volunteered some 1,400 hours working with various charities and organizations to improve their communities. “What is so important about Generosity Feeds is that the meals our employees pack go directly to schools and food pantries in the immediate community to support local families. It’s rewarding knowing that our efforts will directly help those in need in our own VWGoA communities across the country,” continued Williams. The meals packed in July will be distributed to local children through schools and food pantries. The meals can be prepared with minimum effort, but their impact is great. “A culinary chef created these meals to be nutritious, satisfying and delicious, with sustainable sources of protein and fiber,” said Klabunde. “We’ve come up with a formula that assembles and distributes these meals quickly and efficiently. Together, this effort will help local kids and their families.”
