Loretta Veney, Author of "Being My Mom's Mom" Shares Lessons Learned While Caring for Her Mother with Dementia
Author of "Being My Mom's Mom" to Speak in Waukegan on Saturday, June 3
Loretta Veney, author of “Being My Mom’s Mom,” will present a program for families living with memory loss in Waukegan on Saturday, June 3. Based on her personal experience, Veney’s presentation will focus on lessons learned from caring for a loved one with dementia.
Veney’s one-hour presentation is the featured event at a Saturday morning “Caring with Faith” program for families living with memory loss. CareSmart Illinois, a local not-for-profit specializing in dementia care education, manages the program in partnership with faith communities in Waukegan, North Chicago, and Zion. Major financial support is provided by the Lake County Community Foundation.
Additional morning activities include a “Meet and Greet” with Loretta from 9:00-10:15, a Caregiver Resource Fair (ongoing), raffle prizes, and a light buffet lunch. The event will be held at Waukegan Park Place Senior Center, 414 S Lewis Ave, in Waukegan. Doors open at 9:00 am; the event concludes at 12:15.

This event is free of charge to caring family members and friends of a loved one with memory loss in northeast Lake County and surrounding communities. To insure adequate seating and meals, interested family members and friends should REGISTRATION by Wednesday, May 31, at www.eventbrite.com (search for “Mom’s Mom”) or call Chris at 847-596-8226.
