Man Accused Of Burning Mom's House Down Remains In Jail

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Bail has been set at $350,000 for a 26-year-old Libertyville man accused of burning his mother's house down.

Adrian S. Jonas, 26, of the 500 block of East Golf Road in Libertyville, remains behind bars Monday in connection with the arson case, according to online jail records. He has been charged with residential arson, violation of an order of protection and resisting an officer.

He was taken into custody Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest in connection with the blaze on Oct. 10 at 592 E. Golf Road. Authorities were initially called to the single-family home for an explosion and fire, according to a news release from the village of Libertyville.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze. They searched the home and did not find anyone inside, according to the news release. Authorities identified Jonas as a person of interest and found him not far from the location of the fire.

Jonas was transported to an area hospital, authorities said. He was released from the hospital Thursday and arrested on a warrant.

The home, which belonged to Jonas' mother, is currently uninhabitable, the Lake and McHerny County Scanner is reporting. Jonas' mother had an active order of protection against him.
