21-Year-Old Waukegan Man Killed In Libertyville Township Crash
The two-vehicle crash happened Saturday morning after police say the man's car crossed the median into oncoming lanes of traffic.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 21-year-old Waukegan man is dead following a crash Saturday morning in Libertyville Township, police said. A preliminary investigation shows the collision happened in the area of Peterson Road near Route 137 in Libertyville Township at about 11 a.m. Saturday. A 2013 Mazda 6 was driving west on Peterson Road just west of Route 137 when it crossed the concrete/grass median and entered the eastbound lanes of traffic, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The Mazda was struck by an eastbound 2011 Toyota Sienna driven by a 45-year-old woman of Johnsburg.
The driver of the Mazda was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he was pronounced dead, according to the news release. The driver of the Toyota and an 8-year-old passenger were also taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office scheduled an autopsy for the 21-year-old man Monday.
There is no evidence to suggest alcohol was a factor in the crash, Lake County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Christopher Covelli said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
