Man Who Stabbed Woman In Front Of Kids Arrested In Lake Co.: Cops
The Indiana man was taken into custody in an apartment in Waukgean on Wednesday.

WAUKEGAN, IL — A 32-year-old man wanted on felony charges out of Indiana for allegedly stabbing the mother of his children in front of the their kids was taken into custody in Lake County on Wednesday, authorities said. Lake County Sheriff John Idlenurg lauded his deputies and other sherif's office employees for their work in apprehending Gregory Vaughn Jr., of Fort Wayne, Indiana, as well as other efforts to keep "our community safe" amid the coronavirus pandemic.
An investigation was launched by members of the Lake County Sheriff's Office Warrants Team and the U.S. Marshals Service-Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force after authorities in Fort Wayne, Indiana, informed local authorities that Vaughn may be residing in an apartment in Lake County.
That probe led local authorities to an apartment in the 3100 block of West Grandville Avenue, Waukegan.Vaughn was arrested without incident on an active arrest warrant for attempted murder, robbery, theft, invasion of property and interfering with the reporting of a crime.

Charges were filed against Vaughn after he allegedly entered a home in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on March 2 where his children resided with their mother, according to the news release. He proceeded to stab her in front of his children, authorities said.
The next day, he returned and shot an acquaintance of the mother of his children several times. He fled from the scene and has been on the lam up until his arrest this past week.

He is in custody at the Lake County Jail on a $1 million bail. He is next expected in court on April 7.
