This Mariano's In Lake County Plans To Close Soon

The store, which has been operating in Lake County since 2014, is set to close next month.

GURNEE, IL — The Mariano’s grocery store on Grand Avenue in Gurnee is scheduled to close July 17, according to company officials.

The Daily Herald is reporting the store, located at 6655 Grand Ave., has been in operation since 2014, when it opened in a former Dominick’s location. A company spokesperson confirmed the closure, saying it is part of a broader effort by parent company Kroger to streamline operations and improve long-term financial performance.

Officials did not immediately say how many employees will be affected or whether workers will be offered transfers to other locations, though Kroger has previously said impacted employees at other store closures would be given the opportunity to relocate within the company.

The Gurnee closure is part of a larger pattern of suburban Mariano’s shutdowns in recent years as Kroger continues consolidating its grocery footprint across the region, according to the Daily Herald.
