Marijuana Allowed At Mundelein Music Fest

The Miracle in Mundelein will purportedly be the first in the state to allow marijuana consumption on site.

MUNDELEIN, IL — Mundelein is planning for a musical festival that is purported to be the first in Illinois that will allow marijuana consumption on site, the Daily Herald is reporting. The Miracle in Mundelein will take place Sept. 9 to 10 and will be located across the street from Rise, the village's sole dispensary at 1325 Armour Boulevard.

Festival goers will be able to bring cannabis they order at Rise or purchased at an Illinois dispensary, that's still in its original packaging, into the fest, according to the article.

Green Thumb Industries, the parent company for Rise, pitched the idea for the festival to the Mundelein Village Board in April. Shortly after that, the board approved a 5 percent entertainment tax that will be tacked onto the ticket prices and is meant to pay for costs associated with public safety expenses.
